Matthew Gould

Matthew Gould is an Associate Lawyer at Rutman & Rutman Professional Corporation. Matthew was called to the Ontario Bar in 2025. He graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Leicester Law School and holds a degree in Criminology and Political Science from the University of Western Ontario.

During his legal studies, Matthew excelled in various areas such as Trial Advocacy, Estates and Trusts Law, and Constitutional Law, earning top results in his class. He was an active member of the University of Leicester Legal Advice Clinic, where he advanced to the role of Deputy Director, helping provide free legal services to the local community.

Matthew completed his articles at Rutman & Rutman, gaining hands-on advocacy experience at various forums including the Landlord and Tenant Board, Small Claims Court and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. He has negotiated successful settlements and developed a practical approach to litigation and client advocacy.

Matthew’s growing practice focuses on Civil Litigation, including contract disputes, breach of agreement, homeowner-contractor conflicts, Landlord and Tenant Board matters, neighbour disputes, and personal injury claims. He also practices in the areas of Wills and Estates, Employment Law, and select solicitor services.

Recently called to the Ontario Bar, Matthew is a driven and eager new lawyer who is passionate about advocating for clients and delivering strategic legal solutions. He is committed to continuous professional growth and providing exceptional client service.

Outside of the office, Matthew enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and is dedicated to personal development and building a strong foundation as a legal professional.
